Spring 2025 trends: printed quilted jackets

I don't know how this happened, but I feel like my social media feeds have been taken over by a sea of sameness. Everyone is wearing the same tastefully neutral, '90s minimalist–inspired looks—which is a great aesthetic, but I'm getting tired of seeing it on everyone, everywhere. I, myself, am guilty of dressing this way recently; to be fair, a lot of what's in the market lately has adhered to this vibe. But I am so over it. As I noted in my newsletter a few weeks ago, quiet luxury is dead and while I'm not really feeling the Boom Boom look that Gen Z is leaning into at the moment, I am going boho for spring. That means lots of ornamentation (ruffles, lace, embroidery, fringe), pattern, texture, and softness. I'm embracing messiness versus minimalism. I want to love everything I'm wearing, versus adapting a specific way of dressing to fit in with the aesthetic of my (now former) employer. I just want to dress like me. Thankfully, I jolted myself out of my Scandi street style rut a month ago on my birthday, and here's what happened.

Yes, this is the same outfit from last week, with a jacket added

I spend god knows how many hours of my week shopping online, but the funny thing is that I feel most inspired—and most myself—when I'm shopping in person. I don't have time to do it very often, but when it hits, it hits. After an amazing birthday lunch (and a couple of drinks) at Cotogna, I stopped into the Isabel Marant store, where I saw about 10 things I wanted to buy, including this jacket—more on that below. It was enough to snap me out of my sad neutral loop. I almost bought it (and if I were still gainfully employed, I probably would have), but instead I slept on it...then found the jacket I'm wearing at Zara for a fraction of the price. It's a similar vibe—lightweight, quilted, printed—but much more responsible. I've been wearing it nonstop, and it just makes me feel like me. I highly recommend picking up a printed quilted jacket for spring; more of my recommendations are below.

More printed quilted jackets

1. Wow, I haven't been on ASOS in ages, but this cute cropped jacket turned up in a search and I'm into the mixed bandanna prints. Because of the black-and-white color scheme, this one feels more neutral than the rest, proving that you don't have to wear a bunch of crazy colors to pull off this trend.

ASOS Design Cropped Quilted Jacket $89.99

2. This is the piece that inspired this entire post, and in spite of buying the Zara jacket above, yes, I am still thinking about this one.  It's super-soft and pillowy, and the mixed prints are just wild enough to perfectly work together. This is a statement jacket if there ever was one, but it's also so unique, it feels like the kind of thing you'd have forever. Pray for a sale with me.

Marant Etoile Chancel Jacket $825

3. This is a more current version of the Chloe jacket that's been around for several seasons (note: do not buy knockoffs of this on Amazon; don't ask me how I know). I like this one because it has a more practical zipper, and the print reminds me a little bit more of the Marant jacket.

Free People Printed Dolman Quilted Knit Jacket $228

4. Sézane is another brand I haven't shopped for a moment, and obviously I've been missing out, because the geometric pattern on this one is stunning. (It also comes in a sweet floral print.) The front ties are an interesting detail too.

Sézane Paoline Jacket $195

5. This is one of the more practical options, one because it's reversible so it's like two jackets in one, and two, because the pattern is the most subtle. I can almost see women in my neighborhood wearing it to school dropoff over their workout gear—if you ask me, it's a step up!

Tnuck Sport Celeste Reversible Quilted Jacket $148

6. Farm Rio strikes me as a very summery brand—it's Brazilian after all—so I love that they've figured out how to infuse cooler-weather pieces with their signature wild prints. They have a bunch of amazing maximalist jackets on sale at the moment, but this one is my favorite.
