3 recent outfits I'm loving

Even though it's late October, it's still pretty warm here in San Francisco, although that seems to be the case across the rest of the U.S. too. I really want to wear my cozy sweaters and newer fall items, but I keep telling myself that hopefully the longer I wait to wear them now, the less tired of them I'll be next spring. That said, we have been getting an occasional cool day here and there—or experiencing a pretty dramatic temperature drop at night—so I have been breaking out the cashmere here and there. I'd like for it to be actual fall sooner rather than later, but until then, here's what I'm wearing in the in-between-seasons weather.

I've been filling in the gaps in my wardrobe as I tend to do at the start of a new season, and lately my focus has been on pants. I had been curious about the new-ish barrel silhouette and after a few false starts, I finally found success with these Nili Lotan Shon pants. I bought one of her trousers in New Orleans in March and they quickly became one of my go-to pairs, so I knew I was in good hands with these. The fabric is this incredibly soft brushed cotton, and the pants themselves are so comfy, I almost feel like I have nothing on. Based on online reviews I've read, people either love or hate this silhouette; put me in the love camp for sure. There are two things to note, however. One, they run incredibly huge. I am wearing a size 2 and they are still quite roomy—trust me, in no universe am I actually a size 2—so I'd recommend going down at least two sizes.  Two, they are a bit pricey (I had a credit at Bergdorf's, which I used on these) but in my opinion, totally worth it.  On top, I'm wearing a featherweight cashmere sweater from a new-to-me brand called Franne Golde—read on for more on them!

I get contacted a lot by brands who want to send me free clothes (champagne problems, I know); I turn most of them down, but I was intrigued by Franne Golde and thankfully everything they sent me was a home run. The brand was started by a successful Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter who couldn't find pants she liked and has since expanded to include knitwear, dresses, and more in the genre I like to call Basics Done Well. The pants are fantastic—the fabric is lightweight and stretchy yet substantial enough to hold shape; I have a feeling these will travel very well. The cardigan is more of a featherweight cashmere; it's the kind of layer I will pretty much live in for the next several months, because it's perfect to throw on over anything when you're feeling just a bit chilled. But I really want to give props to Franne Golde's T-shirts. They are so light and drapey, thanks to their 50-50 cotton and modal blend, and the subtle slub texture is just *chef's kiss.* I want one of these in every color and sleeve variation—they are literally my ideal T-shirt. I also love how long they are, which gives you more wardrobe flexibility (I left mine untucked so you could see how long it is). I'm wearing a medium in everything for reference.

If I had to commit to a uniform, it would be this: blazer, T-shirt, jeans, and flats. It's my safety blanket of outfits, but it works. I'm wearing the crewneck version of the tee from the previous outfit underneath my all-time favorite black blazer, paired with a pair of jeans that always fits my body, the iconic Levi's 501. I picked up a pair during the most recent Prime Day (Shopbop, which is owned by Amazon, had a bunch of great items on sale) and even after all my wide-leg exploration, I have to admit this style is still the most flattering on my body. After all, they made my list of the best straight-leg jeans of all time!
