7 Thanksgiving outfit ideas

Thanksgiving is three weeks from today, and while my celebration will be more intimate than normal, it will still be a celebration. I'm thankful for all of the lessons I've learned this year, for my and my family's health and safety, and for many other things in my life. And in case you need to take your mind off of what's going on in our country right now, there's nothing wrong in starting to plan your meal—and what you're going to wear to it. So without further ado, here are 7 Thanksgiving outfit ideas, from dressy to more on the casual side.

All black

I wore this outfit in July, which in San Francisco should almost feel like November wherever you are (e.g. cold and foggy). With heels and a LBD, it's definitely the dressiest ensemble here, but this dress has strategic ruching that can comfortably expand to fit a food baby.

OUTFIT DETAILS: Halogen cardigan | Iro dress (recent version here) | Keebos iPhone case (c/o) | Calla Camila boots (c/o)

Zebra maxi dress

Also on the dressier side, although the loafers make it a little more mellow. This dress is a bit more fitted through the waist, so not the best if you're planning on eating a lot, but you can at least loosen the belt a bit.

OUTFIT DETAILS: eShakti zebra dress (c/o) | Banana Republic moto jacketFount Coventry bucket bag (c/o) | Gucci Brixton loafers (also here)

Red & leopard

Ignore my hair in this post (this was before I learned how to properly white-balance my photos) and instead focus on the fierce combination of bright red cashmere and leopard print. Pro tip: size up in the sweater for a slouchier, food-baby-friendly fit.

OUTFIT DETAILS: Kenneth Cole coat | Everlane cashmere crew | Zara skirt (similar here) | Acne Pistol boots | vintage Coach purse (current version here)

All knits

I know, this is kind of similar to the very first look above, but the tee and skirt I'm wearing are definitely more casual in feel, and the sweater (almost a coatigan!) feels like a bathrobe. This is a super comfy outfit to take a nap in after your big meal.

OUTFIT DETAILS: Halogen cardigan | Pact tee (c/o) | Free People skirt | Madewell belt bag | Vionic Lacey bootie (c/o)

Black and white

It takes an adventurous person to wear white jeans to a dinner party (I did it last weekend and it did not end well), but if you're feeling bold, go for it. A nice big boyfriend blazer also helps to camouflage any post-meal bloat.

OUTFIT DETAILS: Zara blazer (similar here) | Everlane alpaca sweater | Old Navy power straight jeans | Vionic Josie shoes (c/o) | Jerome Dreyfuss Bobi bag

Faux leather joggers

If I were the type of person who plays football, then sits down to Thanksgiving dinner, this is the kind of outfit I'd wear. The faux-leather joggers are a little dressier than regular joggers, plus they have an elastic waistband and you know what that comes in handy for.

OUTFIT DETAILS: Uniqlo coat (current version here) | Cuddl Duds top (c/o) | Michael Kors faux leather joggers | A.P.C. sac demi-lune | Vionic Hadley oxfords (c/o)

Sweater and leggings

This outfit looks dressier than it actually is, thanks to the knee-high boots, and considering it consists of a loose-fitting tunic sweater and stretchy leggings, it rates a 10/10 on the comfort scale. I will probably be wearing some variation of this on Thanksgiving, sorry not sorry!

OUTFIT DETAILS: Uniqlo coat (current version here) | Pinkyotto sweater (similar here) | Cuddl Duds leggings (c/o) | Jambu Chai boots (c/o) | Balenciaga bag (current version here

These are great autumn outfits and I'd wear a few of them even though we don't have thanksgiving here! I think that last one is my favourite - perfectly stylish and still cosy and comfortable :)

Hope that you are having a lovely day :)

Cheryl, I love all the outfit inspiration featured in this post. It is definitely time to plan both our food and our fashion for Thanksgiving! I had to chuckle at the "food baby" references, too! Thanks for linking up with Ada and me on Thursday Moda.

Hi Cheryl
I love all these looks! Those faux leather joggers look great too. I really love the combo of red and leopard. I am probably going to wear a dress, as it is the most comfy for those big meals.
