I no longer know what day it is, what time of year it is, or where I'm supposed to be right now, which may explain the hot mess that is this outfit. The centerpiece is a boilersuit, or jumpsuit, and because it's spring (I think) and the weather has been all over the place, that may explain why I'm wearing a leather jacket and suede sandals with it. Earlier in the day, I was almost sweating while walking the dog, yet when we went out to shoot this, it became inexplicably chilly. And yet, I wanted to wear both this jumpsuit and these sandals, which Vionic sent me ages ago and yet it's been too cold to even think about putting them on, until now. Somehow throwing a leather jacket onto all of this seemed like an easy fix. I don't know...maybe it works? You be the judge.
I have been looking for the perfect belted button-front jumpsuit, otherwise known as a boilersuit, for ages, and I'm glad I finally found it at Everlane. They had a sale a few weeks ago in which they offered 20% off everything—Everlane has never done a blanket discount before—so I took advantage and ordered this jumpsuit that I'd had my eye on for awhile. Ideally, I would have preferred a gray or army green, but I went for navy and I'm super happy I did. I love that it has pockets and an adjustable belt (although you can wear it without), and the buttons don't gape at the bust (a pet peeve of mine). I feel like it's more flattering in person than in photographs; the fit is very easy and relaxed, especially in the legs, in way that I'd yet to encounter until I ordered this one. Is it the most flattering thing I own? No. Do I care? Not in the least. That said, it runs rather large; I sized down to a 4 and even that was still a bit loose, although it did shrink a bit when I washed it. I'd say go down one size if you want a relaxed fit and go down two sizes if you want it to be more fitted.
I had planned on pairing my J.Crew quilted jacket with this outfit, until I realized I've been wearing it waaaay too much, so I decided to shop my closet and go for a jacket I haven't worn in a long time. You last saw this Vince jacket ages ago, and while I'm not totally convinced it works here, it's still a great jacket. Vince more or less makes a similar silhouette every season—it's a buttery-soft lightweight leather that's cut with a big, drapey collar and a fitted, cropped fit. It works here because it's a softer contrast to the mostly structured boilersuit. Even if you can score one on sale, this jacket is a bit of an investment, but I've had this one since my Gap days (making it at least six years old) and it has staying power. It also runs a bit on the snug side—I'm in a medium—so err on the side of comfort.
I will admit, I felt very weird putting on heels, considering it's been a good six weeks since I've worn them. It also felt kind of nice. I love the unexpected coral color of these Vionic sandals, and in spite of their three-inch heel, they are quite comfortable (and true to size). I love how they add a bit of femininity to this look; I was tempted to wear sneakers with this jumpsuit, but a heel just felt so much more true to my own sense of style. Wearing these, I felt like myself again, which is never a bad thing. These run true to size—I'm in my usual 8.5.

I love this boiler suit on you, Cheryl! And the sandals are perfect with it. I put on heels yesterday for photos and it was totally weird especially since I have been barely wearing shoes at all these days! Thanks for linking up with me.

I love the orange sandals with the navy jumpsuit! I think you wear it so well, and it's good you love the fit so much, being petite jumpsuits and playsuits are usually out of the question for me, haha! They never fit just right.
Hope you had a good weekend! It was a big day here, first day back at school for my son today after 6 weeks - it was closed because of the virus!
Thanks so much for joining the #WeekdayWearLinkup! The new link up is live on my blog now, I'd love you to join again.
