Join it: MyHabit

I know what you're thinking: Another flash sale site?! I must receive at least 15 emails a day from these sites, to the point where I'm considering unsubscribing from those I never shop. And so just as flash-sale fatigue began to set in, along comes MyHabit, which is backed by Amazon and is, by all accounts, a well-oiled machine. Several major winning points: So far, they've had a great mix of designers, leaning heavily on contemporary brands—I've seen Elizabeth & James, Foley & Corinna, Loeffler Randall, Belle by Sigerson Morrison, and Twinkle by Wenlan, among others. They sell these at pretty reasonable prices, and if you use code SUMMER25 now through 8/1, you can take $25 off your order. As an added bonus, shipping is free both ways, and it is fast—I placed an order on Thursday morning and it was waiting for me when I got home from work on Friday. My only criticism of the site is that when you make a return, your credit card isn't refunded; you get a MyHabit store credit, but you can also use it on Amazon or Endless.com, and, if you're like me, that shouldn't be a problem. I also like that there's no perceived exclusivity surrounding the site: If you have an Amazon account, you have a MyHabit account (although if you don't, email me and I'll send you an invite). And speaking of which, items don't sell out nearly as quickly as on the other sites (well, not yet), so shop early and shop often—sales start daily at noon ET and last for 72 hours. Looks like this flash sale site is a habit (or a MyHabit) I won't break anytime soon.

TheFind Guest Post: Step Dramatically in a Pair of Burgundy Pumps

A girl can never have too many pumps, but there’s still something to be said about being selective (trust me, otherwise you’ll just end up with a closetful of rainbow hues you swear you’ll wear “at some point” but never actually will). And while certain styles, like patent nude, grey suede, and the classic platform black pairs may never go out of style and go with nearly everything, you don’t want to rely on the same old faithfuls to get you through the upcoming fall season! That’s why I’m all about burgundy pumps — they’re undeniably fall-festive, and manage to be classier than bright red while still providing a fun pop of color to your muted work outfits, go-to denim, or even your little black dress. Go for a classic silhouette with a slight pointed toe (which is also totally in!) like these Pierre Hardy patent leather pumps, or opt for a platform peep-toe with lots of patent shine like this Giuseppe Zanotti pair. If you’re not afraid to strut sky-high, I love these Ash ‘Eloise’ suede pumps, which instantly vamp up any skirt or skinny jeans, but if those are still a little too understated for your taste, the scalloped back detail and squared toe of these Samanta ‘Harlene’ pumps make them quite the statement-makers!

Lazy shopping: friendship bracelets

The year was 1987. I spent my summer riding my bike, going to see Adventures in Babysitting multiple times, and making friendship bracelets. I had a basic design--it involved tying knots in embroidery floss--that, as the summer progressed, got more intricate as I experimented. I let my bracelets pile up on my arms, to the point that when I finally took them off in the fall, I had big bands of tan lines around my wrists. I'm glad to see friendship bracelets making a comeback this year, albeit in a more intricate, sophisticated way, with chains, beads, and silk cords involved. I, for one, have fully embraced the trend; most days, I wear a minimum of three colorful bracelets. They're a great way to perk up your outfit, and looking at them reminds me of being a carefree 9-year-old. I've been stocking up whenever and wherever the mood strikes--at Topshop, from street vendors--but here are some of my favorite styles from around the web.

In These Shoes: Tory Burch Tatum Sandals

I have been looking for red sandals for what seems like forever*, to the point that it's becoming an obsession. Ideally, I'd like an open-toe, ankle-strap style with a walkable wood heel; unless I want a so-called "comfort shoe" or a style worthy of pole-dancing, however, I can't seem to find a happy medium. Or couldn't, at least, until inspiration struck while getting a pedicure with Essie Vermillionaire last week (sadly, a discontinued color). Maybe it wasn't that I couldn't find the right pair of red sandals--it was that I couldn't find the right red. I expanded my search to include more orange-leaning shades and, lo and behold, I found the Tory Burch Tatum sandal. The nectarine color evokes exactly that: a sweet, fruity, juicy treat that's best enjoyed during peak summer months. Its two buckles and a fairly simple design help counteract the borderline-bananas 5.5-inch stacked heel (and 1.5-inch platform), but this is coming from a girl who's never met a platform sandal she hasn't liked. Even better? They're on sale, proving that the best things come to those who wait...for sales.

*Okay, maybe it's been just a few months.

Top 5 Sample Sales of the Week

It's the middle of summer, clearance season is winding down, and yet there are, all of a sudden, a bunch of great sales this week. Christmas in July indeed!

Club Monaco's sample sales are the stuff legend is made of: true samples (4/6), some of which never made it to production, and nothing over $35. Expect utter chaos and amazing deals. 7/19-7/21; 9-5 (closed noon-1); 601 W. 26th St. (11th & 12th Aves.), ste. 800.

Philip Crangi's Giles & Brother jewelry line is one of my absolute favorites (in fact, I'm wearing a Giles & Brother necklace as I type this). It's outgrown its pace, so they're having a moving sale, with prices up to 70% off. Bangles start at $25; necklaces are around $100-$200. Through 7/24; 11-7 T, 11-7 W-Sat., 11-6 Su.; 9 9th Ave. (13th & Little West 12th Sts.).

When I have visitors coming to NYC, one of the places I send them to is No. 6; I don't know what it is about this store, but everything in it is just cool. Now through Wednesday, getting cool is at least a little more affordable (think 50% off). Through 7/20; noon-7; 6 Centre Market Place (Broome & Grand Sts.).

Vogue, GQ, the CFDA...everyone loves Billy Reid, and considering you can snag men's and women's clothes and accessories for up to 75% off, you will too! 7/20-7/24; 10:30-7, 10:30-6 Sun.; Chelsea Market, 75 9th Ave. (15th & 16th Sts.).

Stock up on trend-focused jewelry for up to 80% off at Rachel Leigh's sample sale. 7/20-7/21; 10-5; 252 W. 38th St. (7th & 8th Aves.), ste. 902.

TheFind Guest Post: Fabulous Find: DVF Morinne Cotton-twill Cape

I love summer. It’s the skin-baring season to sport sensational dresses and sexy strappy sandals, in fact if I had to choose one way of weather that would last all year long, I’d definitely choose a sunshine-spoiled day mixed in with a cool summer breeze. But I have to admit, when I saw Diane Von Furstenberg’s Morinne Cotton-twill Cape, I couldn’t help but get excited about the crispy, clean cold of fall…and how much I wanted to add this beautiful find to my list of must-have fall fashions. The Morinne Cape makes transforming into an instantly chic lady take less than a mere nano-second. So elegantly retro-inspired and modish, Diane von Furstenberg's bamboo cotton-twill cape is the perfect outerwear to layer over pretty much everything. Pair it with a playful pair of pumps or your go-to fall boots. Rain or shine, signature sexy and sophisticated style will be at your beckon call all year long. And with a coat with stylish, there’s no excuse to transition through the season’s with being anything less than extraordinary.

TheFind Guest Post: Are You Ready To Ditch Your Skinny Jeans For Flared Denim?

Skinny, cuffed, boyfriend, boot leg, wide leg, and more -- you name the style, and it's highly likely that it's gone through the "what's cool in denim now" never-ending trend cycle just in the past year or less. Jeans are always getting revamped, restyled, recycled, and reinstated back into the world of style, and it can be hard to keep up. Well, blue jean fans -- if you can stay focused long enough to fit one more new re-emerged trend on your wardrobe wishlist, it's time to go back to the 70s (and the 90s.. and the multiple more recent times the trend has been re-worked) to welcome back flared jeans! Waist-accentuating, leg-slimming, and state-making, the flared jean is a big step from this summer's skintight skinnies and uber-casual boyfriend cropped pairs, but you may be surprised at how easily you forgot about the great things flares do for your figure! To keep the look modern, try a trouser-inspired style like these Hudson 'Marisa' jeans, and go with a nice dark wash, like these Goldsign 'Elan' flares or these Paige 'Bell Canyon' jeans, to keep things streamlined!

Join it: Stylemint

There's no question that when it comes to e-commerce, curated subscription sites are the new flash-sale sites. And while none so far have inspired me to make a purchase, it looks like Stylemint will be the game changer. While I'd received several pitches on the site, it was the photo at right (shot by Terry Richardson) in this month's InStyle that really caught my attention. I am an unapologetic Olsen twins lover, and there was just something about this photo--the hair, the clothes, the shoes--that made me say "I want that." Thankfully, you can at least buy the T-shirts, which are $29.99 each on Stylemint, a new sister site of Jewelmint, which is curated by the equally stylish Kate Bosworth. Like many of these sites, you must take a style quiz to determine your personality; I am "modern" ("classic chic" and "runway" are the other options, which you are free to peruse, a nice option for rebellious shoppers like me who dislike being given only a narrow assortment of products). The interesting thing about Stylemint is that, at the moment, there are only 4 styles for sale; the style personalities exist only to suggest how to wear each tee. As for the T-shirts themselves, they all look pretty solid, and considering the Olsens started The Row when they couldn't find the perfect tee, I'd say the sisters know their knitwear. Of the four styles, the "No...is a full sentence" tee is what first caught my eye, but I think the slouchy Fillmore below might be the style to win my heart this month. Truth be told, I could probably order one of each.

The catch, like with most of these curated sites, is that once you make a purchase, you're opted in, and you have until the 6th of each month to opt out; otherwise you are automatically charged $29.99. Of all such sites, however, I think Stylemint would be the least problematic in having to make a monthly or even a periodic purchase. I buy at least two T-shirts every month anyway, and based on what's on the site so far, I don't think I'd be lacking for selection. And, hey, if it helps me look like the Olsen twins in the above photo, I'll take it.

Sample Sale of the Week: Rachel Comey

Rachel Comey may or may not be responsible for that mousy geek-chic look favored by so many hip Brooklynites, but she certainly does it best. So hit her sample sale, where you can score past-season merch (think chunky clogs and librarian-worthy frocks) at 60% off. 7/7-7/8; noon-7 Th, noon-5 F; 335 W. 35th St. (8th & 9th Aves.), 11th fl.

TheFind Guest Post: Switch Up Your Sunglass Style With Hexagonal Frames

With all the resurgent vintage trends in summer accessories -- from clog-inspired sandals and chunky platform soles to 70s-chic printed headscarves -- it can be tough to keep up, not to mention pick and choose wisely for the perfectly balanced retro-modern look. Sunglasses especially are constantly bringing back vintage styles, like 60s circular frames, modern spins on wayfarers, updated cat-eye glasses, and now, unique hexagonal shades that put a cool retro-modern spin on your typical oversized frames. Go quirky with extreme angles like these translucent blue Anza Sunglasses by Elizabeth & James, or if you're not willing to break the bank for this new trend, test them out first with a budget-friendly pair from Charlotte Russe. These Karen Walker Patsy Sunglasses embrace ultra-funky thick frames and dark dramatic lenses for a cool on-trend look that's hardly incognito, but if you're not quite ready to embrace the trend full-on, go for a more subtle, rounder-edged pair with just the slightest hint of hexagonal shape, like these Linda Farrow shades!
