Since I was able to make it through the day without getting sick, I think tomorrow I might attempt to hit the Alexander Wang sale. It got a yay from Racked and an eh from eep!. Has anyone else been? Is it worth it? I figured since I have to go to Chinatown to pick up some herbs, I might as well swing by. You know, since I'll be in the neighborhood and all.

I went on the first day. Just about everything is over $100. I can't pay $200 to have "Made in China" hanging in my closet. It couldn't have cost Mr Wang a fraction of the price.
For those prices, you'd be better off hitting Proenza, Martin Margiela or Helmut Lang sample sales.
FYI: Only redemption, last year Wang marked everything down on the last day. - Deme
How did the Alexander Wang shopping go? I never made it out there as I spent too much on shoes this week but I hope you found good stuff.
Btw, his factories are in China because his family has business there (he's a friend of a friend).
I'm sure he saves tons of money because it's made in China and on top of that by "friends of friends"
Either pass the discount along or produce your clothing in the USA\Italy\Paris but don't charge me Italian cost of living prices when you're not paying for it.
Actually, I think his business, like that of most new designers, is not that lucrative. He also doesn't charge as much as the designers you mention who are largely backed by large European conglomerates.
How did your shopping go, Cheryl?
I went Friday afternoon, and everything was marked down by about $40 or so. I had two dresses, a tank top, and a cropped jacket (that I had been lusting after for months) all picked out, but then I realized that it would be $600 for the lot, and while I really liked everything, I decided not to blow my budget and ended up not getting anything. I really like his clothes, and they fit me quite well, but I didn't really need any of it, and for the price, I didn't think it was worth it.
Anonymous, the fact that his clothes are made in China doesn't particularly bother me. It's the fact that almost everything is a polyester blend. If I'm going to spend that much on a garment, I don't want anything that's going to make me sweat.
