Object of Desire
Yes, it's yet another new feature here at Cheryl Shops. A preface: Alluding to some of the more pricey items I spotlight here, some readers have made comments along the lines of "Yikes, this shit is expensive!" Well, yes. While I like to let you know about sales--one of the primary functions of this blog--I also like to let you know about luxury items that are really exceptional, as I think it's cool (and very modern) to mix high and low (e.g., Kate Moss wears $500,000 diamond earrings with a vintage army jacket, a denim skirt, and Manolos). Of course, sometimes it's just fun to drool over things. Hey, I'm a Pisces, and I'm a dreamer. It's par for the course.
So, behold this Missoni cashmere cardigan. Okay, it's a bit loud. And it's $2,700*. But it's the kind of unique item that people stop you on the street to gush over. Plus, it's almost entirely sold out, and that speaks volumes. Missoni knits are incredibly luxurious, made from the finest yarns in really innovative, intricate patterns. The company, which is still family-owned and -operated, has been around for nearly 50 years, and their designs are timeless. Of course, if you're spending $3,000 on a sweater, one would hope to be able to wear it for more than one season. So, really, think of it as an investment. (For more Missoni, visit their boutique at 1009 Madison Ave., or for more affordable options, Saks carries the M Missoni line.)
*$2,700 includes VAT and is converted from pounds, so the price is most likely inflated due to the weak-ass dollar. I'm guessing the sweater would be closer to $2,000 here in the states.
