With my e-mail address out on the Internet like it is, I end up getting a lot of junk mail, like some deposed African king asking for my bank account number and some quack offering me Darvocet for half price. Thankfully, for every 10 or so of those e-mails, I end up on a mailing list for something cool, like NYC General Store. While mostly a collective of smaller, hard-to-find designers--check out Gilda's Peruvian silver earrings and Lisa Toland's fairy-princess handbags--the website also will hook you up with a chef, an interior designer, a vintage shopper, a financial adviser, and more. So, basically, it's one-stop shopping. Which I like.
