Oscar fashion
Much like the ceremony itself, Oscar fashion this year was pretty boring. With the exception of Uma Thurman, there were no major missteps. There was a lot of sparkles, nude tones (again, bad for blondes!), and satin. Just kind of eh. Have I become that jaded? Apparently so.

Best:
Charlize Theron: I can't say anything bad about her, and she gave props to the departing Tom Ford by wearing a Gucci dress. Let's face it, she looked amazing.
Diane Lane: This was one of the more interesting dresses of the evening--I loved the mod cutouts.
Angelina Jolie: Reportedly Ms. Jolie has "taken a lover," and whoever he is, he's doing her good. Not to mention her dress was gorgeous.
Sofia Coppola: Any girl who wears Marc Jacobs on the red carpet gets props from me.
Vanessa Paradis (wife of Johnny Depp): I love her Parisian Bohemian look, and she was one of the few people who showed any individuality whatesoever.

Honorable Mention:
Renee Zellweger: The white satin gown with train was a marked improvement over the basic black dresses of the past. Still, it helps to try a new designer every now and again.
Nicole Kidman: Again, the Chanel Couture gown was much better than her Golden Globes YSL disaster. The color was beautiful.

Worst:
Uma Thurman: Was her billowy maiden fair getup a nod to The Lord of the Rings?
Kelly Lynch: Three words: too much organza.
Sandra Bullock: Her Oscar de la Renta appeared to be an attempt at the Sarah Jessica Parker pink feathers look. She can't pull it off.
Samantha Morton: The vintage Givenchy didn't work for her; I think a more avant garde designer would've better suited her personality.
Diane Keaton: I know, I know, it's her "signature look." Whatever. I'm over it.

Dishonorable mention:
Scarlett Johansson: Lovely dress, ill-fitting. Get a stylist.
All the blondes wearing nude: All together now: "It washes you out and doesn't look good on TV."
